Gelco Fireplace Services Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Gelco Fireplace Services in Natick: What to Know First

Gelco fireplace service in Natick runs $189 to $650 for most repairs, with a full inspection and cleaning at $225. We complete most Gelco jobs in one visit, and we’re an independent Gelco service provider - not a factory arm, so we part-swap and repair rather than push replacements. You’ll get a straight answer and a written quote before any tool comes off the truck.

How Gelco Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Vent-free Gelco units (the VF and VFD series) shut down mid-burn. The oxygen depletion sensor gets coated with dust and pet hair - common in Natick homes with older forced-air systems blowing debris around. It reads “low oxygen” and kills the flame even when the room air is fine. The fix is usually a careful sensor cleaning and recalibration, not a new unit. We’ve saved Natick homeowners thousands on this one.
  • Gelco gas logs on the G series soot up the glass within a week of cleaning. That’s almost always incorrect air-shutter adjustment. Natick’s prevailing east winds create draft differences house to house, and a shutter set for one chimney reads wrong on another. We set the air mix to the actual draft in your flue, not the factory default.
  • Gelco fireplace inserts (the GI series) develop a rattle at the blower. The squirrel-cage fan mounts use rubber isolators that harden and crack after six or seven New England heating seasons. The fan works, but it vibrates against the housing. We replace the isolators - cheap, fast, and often confused for a dead blower by guys who want to sell you a $400 part.
  • Wood-burning Gelco fireplaces with the brick-pattern refractory show hairline cracks. These panels expand and contract with Natick’s freeze-thaw cycles, and the mortar joints let go first. Most cracks are cosmetic early on. We’ll tell you honestly when a crack is structural and when it’s just ugly - and if it’s structural, we use HeatShield or a proper panel replacement, not a smear of furnace cement.
  • Gelco millivolt systems won’t hold a pilot. The thermopile, not the thermocouple, is the usual culprit on Gelco’s MV series. It degrades slowly and the pilot holds for ten minutes then drops. A $60 thermopile swap fixes it. If we see a corroded gas valve on top of that, we’ll show you on camera before we touch it.

Our Gelco Fireplace Services Process

  1. 1
You call and a live person answers. Not a phone tree. We ask what the fireplace is doing, pull up your chimney’s history if we’ve been there before, and give you a real arrival window.
  2. 2
Wendell or one of his background-checked crew arrives in uniform. We lay down drop cloths, set up the inspection camera, and go through the unit from gas valve to chimney cap. You watch the screen if you want.
  3. 3
You get a plain-English verdict. Camera footage. The failed part in hand if it’s out already. A written quote with the price you’ll pay - no add-ons at the door. If it doesn’t need doing, we’ll tell you.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM or quality aftermarket. Gelco OEM parts are right for warranty-covered units and gas valves. For blowers, thermopiles, and refractory panels, we use equivalent-quality aftermarket parts when they’ll outlast or match the factory piece - and we always tell you which one is going in and why.
  5. 5
The repair, the test, the cleanup. We fix it, fire the unit, cycle it three times, and check the draft. Then we clean up. You’d never know we were there except the fireplace works.
  6. 6
90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it’s not right, one call brings us back. No charge, no argument.

What Gelco Fireplace Services Cost in Natick

  • Fireplace inspection and cleaning (gas or wood): $225
  • Thermopile or thermocouple replacement: $189-$275
  • Gas valve replacement: $340-$520
  • Blower motor or isolator replacement: $260-$410
  • Refractory panel replacement: $450-$650 depending on panel count
  • Full Gas Fireplace Service (clean, calibrate, safety check): $325

What moves the price: access (second-story fireplace with a steep roof costs more to reach), part availability for older Gelco series, and whether the chimney flue needs cleaning before we test properly. We don’t charge a trip fee inside our service county. And remember: $40 off any repair over $200, always. Call (781) 378-5846 for an exact quote - the estimate is free.

Why Natick Homeowners Call Top Hat Chimney for Gelco Work

We’ve worked this town and the surrounding roads since 1999. Natick homeowners call us because Wendell puts his name on the work and runs into you again at the transfer station on Saturday. The 90-Day Done Right Promise is stamped on every job in writing, not muttered over a phone. Calls are answered by a live person at (781) 378-5846, around the clock - and it may well be Wendell himself picking up at 10 p.m. when the pilot won’t hold and there’s snow coming.

And because we work across brands - Gelco, DuraFlex, HeatShield, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield - we won’t try to squeeze a DuraFlex liner into a Gelco job just because it’s on the truck. We fit the part to the fireplace, not the other way around. Senior or veteran? 10% off, always. No fine print.
