DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Natick: What to Know First

We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider handling chimney liner replacement and partial or full rebuilds across Natick, and most jobs are done in a day or two once we have eyes on the flue. A stainless liner replacement in Natick typically runs $1,800 to $3,400 depending on height and access. A full rebuild, where the brick itself has gone, starts around $4,500 and climbs from there. If you own a DuraFlex liner and something’s not right, call (781) 378-5846 and Wendell or one of the crew will give you a straight answer.

This page is for Natick homeowners who already have a DuraFlex liner, or who’ve been told they need one, and want to know what actually goes wrong, what it costs to fix, and whether the guy quoting the job knows the product or is just reading a catalog. We’ve been pulling liners out of Natick chimneys since 1999. We know which ones hold up and which ones don’t.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • DuraFlex 316L liners and the Natick freeze-thaw cycle. Natick winters are hard on everything, but a chimney liner takes a beating most people never see. The 316L series is a good liner for wood burning, but we regularly pull them out of Natick homes where condensation has pooled at the offset and eaten through the inner wall. The telltale is a rust-colored stain on the smoke shelf or a faint metallic smell when the fire’s been going for an hour. We replace the damaged section or the full run, and we always check the insulation wrap because that’s usually why the condensation happened in the first place.
  • DuraFlex Pro and the cracked tee snout. The Pro series shows up in a lot of oil-fired and gas conversions around Natick. The weak point we see most often is the tee snout at the base where the connector pipe enters. After ten or fifteen years of expanding and contracting, the weld at the snout collar starts to crack. It’s a small part, but it’s a carbon monoxide pathway. We replace the snout or the tee assembly and pressure-test the run before we call it done.
  • DuraFlex SW and chimney crown failure. The SW line is built for high-heat wood burning, but no liner survives a bad crown. In older Natick colonials near the center of town, we see crowns that were poured fifty years ago and have crumbled to gravel. Water runs down between the liner and the flue tile, freezes, and the expanding ice crimps the liner. You won’t see it from the ground. The camera sees it in thirty seconds. If the crown is shot, we rebuild it and replace the crimped liner section at the same time.
  • Improper prior installs with wrong-size liners. A lot of DuraFlex liners we inspect in Natick were put in by someone who measured once and guessed. An undersized liner drafts poorly and overheats. An oversized liner cools the flue gases too fast and builds creosote like a machine. We’ve pulled 6-inch liners out of fireplaces that needed an 8-inch. The fix is a correctly sized liner, properly insulated, and that alone often solves the draft problems the previous company blamed on everything else.
  • Flexible liner kinking at offsets in two-story Natick chimneys. DuraFlex flexible liners are built to bend, but they’re not built to be forced through tight offsets by someone in a hurry. We see kinks and flattened spots where the liner was muscled through a corbeled flue. A kink doesn’t just restrict draft; it’s a creosote trap and a future chimney fire waiting to happen. We pull the liner, assess whether a smooth-wall or rigid section is a better fit for that offset, and reinstall properly.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

  1. 1
You call, you talk to a person. Not a call center. One of us answers, asks what you’re seeing, and schedules a time that works. We give you a real arrival window and call if anything changes.
  2. 2
We inspect before we quote. Wendell or a crew member runs a camera up the flue and walks the roof if needed. You see the footage. We explain what we’re looking at in plain English.
  3. 3
Parts decision, made with you. If it’s a DuraFlex repair, we use DuraFlex parts where it matters. If an aftermarket part does the same job for less, we say so and let you decide. No secrets, no surprises.
  4. 4
The work, done right. We remove the old liner or rebuild the damaged masonry, install the new liner or repair, and insulate per code. If it’s a rebuild, we match the existing brick as close as we can and re-point what needs it.
  5. 5
Testing and the walkthrough. We test for proper draft and do a final camera pass. You see the result before we leave. Then you get the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing.

What DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Costs in Natick

Here are the numbers we quote most often for DuraFlex work in Natick:

  • Liner inspection and camera report: Free with any repair, or a stand-alone fee of $149 inside the county.
  • Sectional repair of a DuraFlex liner (tee snout, connector, short run): $350 to $800 depending on access and the exact part.
  • Full stainless liner replacement (DuraFlex 316L or comparable): $1,800 to $3,400 for a typical one- or two-story Natick home. Height, offsets, and whether we need scaffolding move the number.
  • Partial rebuild (top 10-15 courses of brick plus crown): $2,800 to $5,500. Brick match matters here, and some of the older Natick brick is no longer made, so we work with the closest available.
  • Full chimney rebuild from the roofline up: $4,500 to $9,000. Size and access are the big drivers, plus whether you need a new liner run at the same time.

What moves the price: flue height, chase access, whether the chimney is on a roof pitch that needs staging, and how much of the existing structure can be salvaged. What doesn’t move the price after we quote it: anything. The number on the phone is the number on the invoice. Call (781) 378-5846 and we’ll give you an exact figure before a single tool comes off the truck.

Why Natick Homeowners Call Top Hat Chimney for DuraFlex Work

We’ve been doing this since 1999, and Wendell Pike puts his name on every job we finish. He grew up in San Diego, but he’s spent the better part of two decades driving out to Natick and the surrounding towns, and he knows the older homes here the way a doctor knows his regular patients. Half the time, a good cleaning is all a chimney needs, and if that’s the case, we’ll tell you. If it doesn’t need doing, we will tell you.

The 90-Day Done Right Promise covers every DuraFlex repair and rebuild we do. If something isn’t right, one call brings us back. No charge, no argument. We also work with HeatShield and Gelco when those systems are the better fit, so if a DuraFlex liner isn’t the right call for your chimney, we’ll say so and recommend what is. We’re not married to one brand. We’re married to your flue working right.
